Eetha Teaser Out: Shraddha Kapoor Transforms Into Legendary Tamasha Icon Vithabai Narayangaonkar

The teaser of Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor in the role of legendary Marathi Tamasha artiste Vithabai Narayangaonkar, has finally been released online. After generating strong buzz with its exclusive theatrical screening alongside Cocktail 2 on June 19, the teaser is now available digitally and is already sparking major conversations across social media.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and backed by Maddock Films, Eetha promises to bring the extraordinary life of one of Maharashtra’s most iconic folk performers to the big screen.

A Powerful First Glimpse

The 2-minute-18-second teaser opens with an electrifying atmosphere as crowds eagerly await the arrival of “Eetha” on stage. Shraddha Kapoor appears in a fierce and emotionally charged avatar, performing Lavani with intensity, passion, and commanding screen presence.

One particular sequence from the teaser has especially caught the attention of audiences. It depicts Eetha returning to perform on stage just moments after childbirth — a recreation of the astonishing real-life incident from Vithabai Narayangaonkar’s life.

The teaser’s striking dialogue translates to:
“If you want something sweet, go for paan, and if you want to watch a storm dance, watch Eetha.”

The visuals showcase vibrant Maharashtrian culture, dramatic stage performances, traditional costumes, and emotionally powerful moments that hint at the hardships and sacrifices behind the performer’s legendary career.

Shraddha Kapoor’s Intense Transformation

Ahead of the teaser launch, the makers unveiled several posters featuring Shraddha Kapoor dressed in colorful traditional attire. One particularly eye-catching poster shows the actress in a bright yellow saree adorned with ghungroos, walking through a crowd lit by lanterns and roaring applause.

To portray Vithabai authentically, Shraddha reportedly underwent extensive training in traditional Maharashtrian dance forms including Lavani and Gavlan. Her transformation has already received praise from fans and cinema lovers online.

About the Film

Eetha is directed by Laxman Utekar, known for films like Mimi and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The film reunites him with producer Dinesh Vijan following the massive success of Chhaava.

Apart from Shraddha Kapoor, the film also stars:

  • Randeep Hooda
  • Nana Patekar
  • Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub
  • Siddharth Jadhav

The music is composed by celebrated duo Ajay-Atul, whose grand musical style is expected to enhance the emotional and cultural depth of the story.

The film is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on August 28, 2026, during the Raksha Bandhan weekend.

Who Was Vithabai Narayangaonkar?

Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar was born in July 1935 in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, into a family deeply connected to folk performance traditions. Her father, Bhau-Bapu Mang Narayangaonkar, was a famous Shahir and Tamasha performer.

At just 13 years old, Vithabai started her own Tamasha troupe in 1948 and soon became one of the biggest names in Lavani and Tamasha theatre across Maharashtra.

Despite achieving legendary status and receiving prestigious Presidential honours, her life was filled with hardship and sacrifice. One of the most unforgettable incidents from her career occurred when she performed while nine months pregnant. During the show, she went into labor backstage, delivered her baby, cut the umbilical cord herself using a stone, and astonishingly returned to complete the performance.

That incredible moment became symbolic of her unmatched dedication to her art form.

Final Thoughts

With a gripping teaser, powerful visuals, and Shraddha Kapoor’s committed transformation, Eetha is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated biographical dramas of 2026.

The film not only celebrates the legacy of Vithabai Narayangaonkar but also shines a light on the sacrifices, struggles, and resilience of folk artists whose contributions often go unrecognized despite their cultural impact.

Fans are now eagerly waiting for the trailer and soundtrack as Eetha prepares for its theatrical release this August.
